Wildfire Canul

Description

A medium-sized feliform mammal, the Wildfire Canul is built with a lean but muscular frame, its long legs giving it speed and agility. A thick mane of black fur spills down its neck and chest, while the rest of its body is covered in dark grey fur with darker stripes running across its flanks. The ears are pointed, though folded backwards, while the tail is long, ending with a tuft of black fur.

Behaviour

Canuls display a predatory temperament, marked by aggression and relentless persistence. They stalk other creatures with uncanny patience, waiting for the right moment to strike. They are the most dangerous animal in the Thessalika region, they hunt not only to feed, but also for pure entertainment. Other animals know to avoid them, which gives Canuls practically unchallenged control of their territory. They are drawn to tall wooden structures and trees, where they scratch, leap and sharpen their claws before resuming the hunt.

Building trust

  1. Hostile

A hostile Canul treats you as prey and will not let you near. Craft a Canul Snack - it is the only food it recognises - drop it on the ground within its range and back off.

  2. Cautious

It no longer charges on sight, but it still watches you the way it watches quarry. Hand it a Canul Snack directly now; the same treat given from your hand counts for far more than one left on the ground.

  3. Neutral

A neutral Canul holds its ground while you approach. Reach out and stroke it - from here on, touch earns its trust several times faster than any treat will.

  4. Warm

A warm Canul stops tracking you like quarry and rests within reach of your hands. No new gesture opens up at this stage - petting remains by far the fastest way to deepen the bond.

  5. Friendly

A friendly Canul will walk at your side if you call it. Keep it at your side and lead it back to a nest to make the bond permanent.

Recipe

Artificial nest & breeding

After completing the animal research, you can build an artificial nest for this animal family and house animals that follow you there.

Bring together a male and female from the same family but different species in an artificial nest. Insert the matching family pheromone into the dispenser, then give the animals time and privacy.

Animal camera & research

  1. Place an animal camera near a natural animal nest.
  2. Wait until data collection is complete.
  3. This updates the behaviour and fauna information.
  4. The research provides the basis for this animal family’s artificial nest.
