Description

The Imperial Strider is a medium-sized ungulate mammal with a slender build and elegant proportions. Its coat is divided between a deep, chestnut brown covering the head, neck, and forequarters, and a pale cream tone extending over the hindquarters. Small white spots are scattered across the shoulders and upper legs, standing out against the darker fur. A short mane of dark hair runs down the neck, stopping at the nape. The horns curve outward and upward in smooth arcs, while the tail is long and tipped with a thick tuft of dark fur.

Behaviour

Striders display a timid temperament. They are graceful and peaceful animals, known for their cautious awareness of their surroundings. When threatened, they flee swiftly and only stop once they feel secure. It is critical for Striders to remain fully concealed while resting, which is why they build their nests within stone formations. These shelters provide both camouflage and protection.

Building trust

  1. Cautious

A cautious Strider bolts long before you get close and will not take anything from your hand. Leave a Strider Snack on the ground - no other food will do - and give it room to approach once you are no longer a threat on the horizon.

  2. Neutral

It holds its ground now instead of fleeing. Offer the Strider Snack directly; taken from your hand, the same treat is worth far more than one found lying in the grass.

  3. Warm

A warm Strider lets you stand beside it without tensing to run. Stroke it - from here on, touch earns its trust twice as fast as feeding.

  4. Friendly

A friendly Strider will travel with you instead of away from you. Keep it at your side and lead it back to a nest to make the bond permanent.

Recipe

Artificial nest & breeding

After completing the animal research, you can build an artificial nest for this animal family and house animals that follow you there.

Bring together a male and female from the same family but different species in an artificial nest. Insert the matching family pheromone into the dispenser, then give the animals time and privacy.

Animal camera & research

  1. Place an animal camera near a natural animal nest.
  2. Wait until data collection is complete.
  3. This updates the behaviour and fauna information.
  4. The research provides the basis for this animal family’s artificial nest.
