Description

A hybrid born of the Lucuma and Mashua Camilla, the Cacao Camilla is a medium-sized ungulate mammal. Its body is patterned with irregular patches of dark brown, grey and white. The tail is even longer than its parents' and is curved with a large tuft of pale fur at the end.

Behaviour

Camillas display a curious temperament, often marked by childish humor and seemingly ridiculous antics. They are extremely sociable and eager to befriend nearly any creature they encounter. One of their most distinctive behaviors is mimicry - they repeat the actions of others, such as jumping, squatting, or simple movements, as if to prove their likeness and establish a bond. Their playful curiosity makes them persistent followers, and they can become attached with surprising ease. They are particularly fond of sweet fruits and tend to linger in biomes where predators are scarce. Though their chosen habitats are often among stone structures, this is best understood as a long-standing instinct rather than certainty, as they seem to feel safest when surrounded by such formations.

Building trust

  1. Cautious

A cautious Camilla will not let you near, but it watches everything you do. Crouch when it sits, jump when it jumps - copying its behaviour is the only thing that earns its attention at this stage.

  2. Neutral

Now that it no longer shies away, a Camilla will let you touch it. Petting builds trust more than twice as fast as mimicry, so keep your hands busy.

  3. Warm

A warm Camilla will finally take food from you - but only a Camilla Snack, nothing else from your pack. Offer one from your hand, or drop it nearby if the animal is still skittish; either way it earns trust far faster than anything else.

  4. Friendly

A friendly Camilla will follow you when asked. Keep it at your side and lead it back to a nest to make the bond permanent.

Recipe

Artificial nest & breeding

After completing the animal research, you can build an artificial nest for this animal family and house animals that follow you there.

Bring together a male and female from the same family but different species in an artificial nest. Insert the matching family pheromone into the dispenser, then give the animals time and privacy.

Animal camera & research

  1. Place an animal camera near a natural animal nest.
  2. Wait until data collection is complete.
  3. This updates the behaviour and fauna information.
  4. The research provides the basis for this animal family’s artificial nest.
